Hello all, our dear friend Tiffany needs our help, and I am here to tell you her story.

A little background-

Many of you know that Tiffany has a heart for two things: children and missions. She has selflessly given many years of her life to both, and spent time in several countries working in orphanages with plans to open her own orphanage in another country someday. She has been employed by daycares as long as I have known her. Truly I don’t know of any person who is more gifted with children; they literally flock to her.

On a personal level, she lived in my house for two years and I have left her with my 6 children countless times, including weeks long vacations. I trust her with my whole heart to not only take care of my children, but to love them the way I would want them to be loved by somebody other than myself.

The story-

After visiting on a past missions trip, Tiff decided to move to Tijuana, Mexico for a full year to volunteer at an orphanage. Not only was she excited to pour into the children, but also to immerse herself in another culture and learn all about it. She also wanted to learn as much as possible so she could one day fulfull her dream of having her own orphanage, and was hoping the owner would act as a mentor to her. She never signed any paperwork that made her an official employee and was never paid for her volunteering.

After many months at the orphanage, one of many activities Tiffany was involved with was a trip to a large lake. This was approved by the orphanage director. So Tiff, four other adult caretakers and a junior staff member took 20 kids out for a day at the lake. It was a typical day of playing in the water, on the beach, taking short trips out on a small boat, and sand volleyball.

By midday, it was confirmed that a 7 year old girl was missing. They searched for her, but couldn't find her. The police came and started searching, and Tiffany and some other caretakers were advised to take the younger children home to the orphanage. After searching overnight with dogs and drones and police, the little girl was found the next day tangled in seaweed where she had drowned. This was a major tragedy that completely devastated Tiff and the entire staff.

Within a few weeks Tiff was told the orphanage was closing and she needed to leave. Within two days she had to pack up and move out. The day following she was told she needed to sign a document or the orphanage would never be allowed to re-open. This ended up being a big mistake, because she didn't fully read the document (which was written in Spanish - she is not fluent); the document claimed that she was solely responsible for the death of the girl, and the orphanage was not at fault. Tiff was still in shock from the events, was rushed into signing the paperwork (because the lady claimed she had some place to be), and did so under duress. She was instructed by legal counsel to come back to her home in Iowa.

After being home a few months, Tiff found out she was being charged with 'Negligent Homicide' and 'Omission of Care.' Of course, Tiff was not only shocked, but completely terrified; and this was on top of losing a little girl that Tiff cared about deeply. Tiff was the only person charged in relation to the little girl's death, even though she was one of five adults present the day of the drowning.

Here's how you can help-

Tiff has spoken to several attorneys and has attained legal counsel in Mexico. The legal fees total $10,000, it is highly probable these charges will be dropped if Tiffany has the 10k funding for adequate legal representation. We have asked for $11,000 to cover the fees these platforms take.

Please consider donating any amount to Tiffany's legal expenses, and help her to move past this horrible situation. Tiffany needs this money by the date of her hearing which is set for July 21, 2023.

Thank you so much for reading, donating, and praying. If you cannot donate, we covet your prayers.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:57

"But thanks to God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

JOHN 16:33

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Thank you everybody that has given! Because of offline donations we have reached our goal and beyond. I'm going to leave the fundraiser up until the end of the week if anybody wants to still give; I figure it's good for her to have a little extra for unexpected fees.
