Hi Facebook Fam-
This post takes a slightly different tone than some of my previous ones and I'd greatly appreciate if you'd read all the way through<3
When I was 7 years old, I had an African American babydoll that I begged my parents for after watching American Idol 'Idol Gives Back' (yes, I'm taking it wayyyyy back), where the show would go to Africa and donate funds for education, medical services, food, etc to underdeveloped countries across the continent. Anyways, I had a large whiteboard in my room growing up and would 'teach' my babydoll everyday what I was learning in school (I thought I was giving back too- hehe). It was my dream to one day have an opportunity to go to some of these less- developed nations and volunteer my time wherever I possibly could!
Today, I was given this amazing opportunity. I have just been accepted to volunteer in Tanzania with International Volunteer HQ on a Teaching Project- here I will be working in English-medium schools or government schools for a two week program at the start of January to help expand the minds of students through multidisciplinary education.
Knowledge is truly power (power in the sense that you have the options to decide and plan the route of your future) I have never done an online campaign to ask for money, however, I am here tonight as I truly believe that Tanzanian children deserve increased access to education, which we are graciously given here in the US. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, I appreciate any and all support in advance!!
