Help us to drive "Through Africa for Africa" to help where help is most needed in rural communities in Tanzania as well as wildlife that suffers at the hand of man.

How can you help?

We are leaving life (as we know it) behind, to chase after what we believe in, so that we can physically help and do the work for you. All we ask of you is support in the form of a contribution.

In return for believing in us and for your assistance, you can experience the safari of a lifetime by joining us on our journey “Through Africa for Africa”.

Why are we leaving everything behind and chasing after what we believe in?

… because we do not know how to live otherwise and want to inspire those who think they cannot.

Before embarking on this trip with us, we suppose you would like to get to know us better. After all, who jumps in on a journey with strangers?

Here is Louise's story:

I have always been different – like a Zebra with entangled stripes. Always wanted more out of life than life has to offer. Eventually, I settled into what I thought I should be. Settled and suffocated - until I met Morné.

And Morné's story:

Morné is a miracle. He lost 4 out of 5 fingers on his left hand in a car accident when he was 15 years old. He had to switch from left to right hand as dominant, had to give up his life dream of being in the military and had to stop playing rugby. Not easy for a 16 year old who is captain of the rugby team.

Despite his setback, he continued kickboxing. 30 years later and he is still handling guns, building structures from metal, is a K9 handler, spent time in the field as an anti-poaching unit member and he has not become bitter. Instead, he has an amazing sense of humour and a beautiful heart. He is the strongest person I know and is resuscitating me back to life.

What are our plans?

We are embarking on a journey to heed our life's calling to help people and other living beings. Come December 2022 we will be Walking 620kms (385 miles) to raise funding to supply anti-poaching rangers with much needed gear. During this time we will also raise cultural awareness for the Maasai. For more info Walk for Wildlife: Dar es Salaam to Arusha (stayinginafrica.com)

How will we get there?

To get to Tanzania, we will be rigging our bakkie, Rhino, and drive through Botswana, Zambia and Malawi. Not an inexpensive venture – and an old car. But we are doing it!

We will travel light and spend much time in a tent and around campfires at night. During this time we will jack up on our Swahili as well as our fitness. Above all, we will be alive with little enough in order to appreciate what we do have; such as a full stomach, a shower, a dry, comfortable bed and time in nature between wildlife.

What will we do in Tanzania?

Once we have arrived in Tanzania and after our walk for wildlife we will continue protecting nature and wildlife and promote the Maasai culture and sustainment thereof.

Would you like to support us to help where help is most needed and drive “Through Africa for Africa” with us?

This is how: For any donations of R300 ($17 USD) or more we will place your name on the back of Rhino.

In that way, you will be travelling with us.

It would mean the world to us to have those who believe in us, close.

Our journey will be documented on our blog and Facebook. We will be streaming live (either YouTube or Instagram – or both) at times when internet connection allows. Twitter, LinkedIn are other platform we will also be using.

Please support us. Help us make people and animals happier. We cannot do this without you.

Thank you All for your support and faith in what we are doing. If your name is written in by hand, it is merely due to the fact that we could not have them printed in time before we left. We are so happy to have you on board!

We made it to Botswana

Update posted by Louise Schweickerdt at 06:21 pm

We had a wonderful first night in Botswana, but realised: we will need a bigger and water proof tent. It is not safe to sleep in the African bush with your feet peeping out because the tent is shorter than you are.

We are geared for when we need to change a tyre: Compressor and jack. We also have some straps to tie things down. And to make sure we can keep you updated, rhino is rigged with charging ports. We would not have gotten this far without your faith in us
