For Our Papa Tom – Liver Resection Surgery

Last November 2020 my husband THOMAS E. GILLO started to feel pain in his back. He eventually decided to have a check-up since he began to feel uncomfortable with the back pain. The doctors advised him to have the following tests done: laboratory tests, CT Scan, and recently MRI. All of these concluded that he has a 7cm mass on segment 7 of his liver. The mass is characterized to be the malignant type. His doctors recommended that he undergo immediate surgery. The test results and the recommendation of the doctors did not only come as a surprise to us but devastated us. Our family has barely recovered from a very unfortunate incident late last year when floodwaters entered our home at the time typhoon Ulysses hit our country. Now we are faced with another adversity. But we continue to hold o and believe in God’s loving-kindness and mercy.

Having experienced other challenges in the past, my husband and I will not allow this trial to weaken our faith and resolve to do everything to overcome it. We would like to push through with the surgery as soon as possible. But to be able to do this, we will need a hefty amount. This is our greatest concern now. We try to make both ends meet by combining salary and some earnings from a small food business. Despite his condition and the pain he experiences, he continues to work hard for our family. Our combined financial resources, however, will not be enough to pay for the surgery and his other medical needs later on.

We hope to push through with the surgery by the third week of April. Prior to the surgery, he still needs to obtain medical clearance from his cardiologist for his atrial fibrillation or AFib condition and an endocrinologist for his hypothyroidism. The aforementioned target schedule will also give us more time to prepare emotionally and financially.

In this connection, my children and I appeal to your kind hearts to help us raise the money for my husband’s surgery and his subsequent medical requirements later. Any amount that you will give will be greatly appreciated.
