From Zoe:

My dear friends - Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, offers of help. I truly don't know what I'll need. My thoughts are random and scattered. I know I will need help for Jorma. He drained his bank account to get out here, and he goes back to school soon. No rent. And now of course he won't be working for who knows how long.
GR friends, GR music community, please be there for Jorma. Hell. Play a fucking benefit show ya'll. Knowing you are behind him will help me.
Portland friends - My Connor is going to be fragile for a while. I will need help with/for him in the coming days.

I love each and every one of you. Jim loved you all as well. All who knew anything about him knows that his family and his friends were the truly important components of his life. He loved us all with all that he was. He really was an incredibly special guy. Never be another one like him.

Update:

Hi friends. It's amazing what we've raised so far--thank you, everyone!!

We're asking for a little more help if you can manage it, a new goal of $5,000. The cremation alone is $1700, and then there's Jorma's plane ticket and other expenses. Anything you can give will be a great help.

All the best,

Christine

(Who am I? I live in Grand Rapids, MI. I'm Zoe's BFF. Or one of 'em :) She's lucky to have so many good friends.)

  • Thank you thank you thank you so much. There will never be adequate words to express my gratitude. Connor and I will be okay, Jorma will make it back to finish school, and I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other. It's a beautiful day here in Portland. I will go on taking little tiny steps, moving forward with a grateful heart.

  • My brother Tim and I grew up one house from Jim and Rebecca and we were one big family. Xmas at the Vaughn's or the Bloom's was shared by all. Tim passed in 2008 and Jim was there to remind me of our brotherhood. I have now lost two brothers and my heart is broken again. Rest in Peace, James. Condolences from my mother, Shirley, my wife Deborah, and my daughter Caitlyn and I.

  • The stories of this man I heard as I grew up leave no doubt in my mind he was an exceptional human being. I wish more of the world was like him, and it is truly dimmer with him gone. My condolences.
