What a lucky girl I am to have this amazing man in my life. He celebrated 95 years young last month in March. My grandfather and grandmother adopted and raised me and my younger brother from the time we were in diapers. What were they thinking! They were in their 60s adopting 2 babies in diapers instead of enjoying their golden years. I love them both so very much for all they sacrificed to raise us. We didnt grow up with alot of money only their social security benefits but they always did their best for us and we never went without. My grandmother sadly left us to be with the Lord and we have done the best we can to continue without her these last years have been hard. I know he very much misses her but my grandfather is one tough fella. He gets up to go out and do a few chores and open up his small fruit and vegtable stand every morning. He loves to be outdoors and hates any mention of the word "doctor" or "hospital" lol. When I can't make the drive to go visit, I call him to check up on him he always tells me he is fine and that he is just sitting outside counting all the cars that go down the road. 95 years old and he is too funny! He used to grow and sell his own vegtables to make a few extra bucks but now with his age he just can't do things like he used to and needs help. Every week I take him a fresh box of tomatoes and whatever else i can afford from the produce market so he can sell outside his home. Usually just a box or two but I know he appreciates it. It helps keep him active and gives him something to look forward to. My brother lives with him and has had to put his life on hold to take care of him but its hard to do alone. They dont have a vehicle so they are dependant on myself and my aunt to take them anything they might need. (Groceries ect) I am married, my husband and I both work to support our 3 kids and I am truly blessed we are all in good health. My husband always helps and encourages me to do what I can for my grandfather and brother. He too wishes that we could do more. Travel time is 45 minutes one way to visit my grandpa which isnt too bad but because of the commute and being a wife and having 3 kids who also depend on me plus my fulltime job its not easy to just pick up and make that drive everyday or even every other day. But it weighs heavy on my heart because I know my grandfather needs me there more. We cant afford the move so my hope is that I raise enough money to relocate near my grandfather so that I can take care of him now that he needs me the most. My husband and kids are supporting me wanting to move closer which means the world to me!! We would be moving out of the city to the country near where my grandfather lives. There is a small property for sale down the road from my grandfathers that I want to buy and raising these funds would allow me to make this much needed move and would financially help me to take time away from work to care for my grandfather. He deserves the world for all he has done for me and I hope to have him for many more years to come!! Please help me so that I can help him. With alot of prayer and a little help maybe, just maybe I will be his neighbor and then I could go over and help him count the cars that pass by!! Forever grateful to the beautiful people in this world like my grandparents who have a heart that is bigger than Texas!
