THESIS POSSIBLE: A 3-month worth thesis fund for a student of Architecture

Last May 25, 2017, I finally got the courage to go see a psychiatrist at our public hospital. It was then that I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I was a senior architecture student from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Philippines. It is a public university where students who reside in Manila can get full scholarship by maintaining very good grades.

I have been a scholar for 5 years until I failed my last design subject and nearly failing the other 3. Having tuberculosis and pleural effusion in my lungs during the making of our thesis made me very unproductive for weeks and so I had trouble catching up with my major and minor subjects. I can’t afford to have another sleepless night as this would weaken my immune system so I purposely absented to minor classes to accomplish plates for major ones. It was very stressful. I grew tired every passing day. I also took the blame for the unexpected medical expenses. Gradually, I lost the energy and the will to survive.

While my batchmates have graduated and found their first jobs, I spent the next 6 months trying to get back up on my feet again attending follow up check ups to make sure I handle my tendency to be depressed very well and suicidal thoughts are much less, way less than usual. And I’m really proud of my progress so far.

Fortunately, I was still given the chance to be readmitted at my college this school year. I am asking for your generosity to help me gather enough funds for my thesis because I don’t want to trouble my parents with the expenses of the thesis project because they are still recovering from the expenses of my hospitalization and medicines.

I honestly couldn’t do it alone. I need to hire an assistant or someone to accompany me so I will not fall into depression again while making my thesis. Please help me make my thesis possible.

Collected funds will be divided to accommodate expenses in two phases for 3 months.

First Phase: Data Gathering

• Monthly Prepaid Internet
• Food and transportation allowances for fieldwork
• Survey Materials
• Consultation/Assistance Fees
• Documentation

Second Phase: Design Schematics

• Drafting Architectural plans via autocad (here I plan to hire an assistant to help me make a 3D version of it)
• 3D Modeling and Rendering
• Food and transportation allowances
• Scaled model (optional, if time and budget permits)
• Tarpaulin printing for presentation
• Book Binding

Equipment and supplies needed throughout the project:

• Coffee
• Printer (here I plan to rent instead of buying a new one, it’s cheaper that way)
• Inks
• A4 bond paper
• Prayers and Motivations
• Scaled modeling materials (optional, if time and budget permits)

If this fundraising went successful enough to exceed its target within a month or before my 21st birthday on December 24, I will be able to celebrate my birthday to my chosen facility, G.R.A.C.E.S (Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special cases).

For my thesis topic, I plan to propose a redevelopment of this facility to cater the growing needs of the abandoned and neglected elderly in our city to provide them better services geared towards a more gracious living.
