My childhood have been full of struggle, learning, pushing, growing and most importantly the opportunity to approach healing. Healing from depression, hopelessness, temper tantrums, healing from racial discrimination, healing from my internalized self-hate, healing from the pains of existing as a black man living in South Africa.
And I deserve that healing and I’m privileged to have access to professional mental health care.
As I turn 27 I am committed to continuing to climb in my own healing because when I heal it sends ripples of healing to others. But this climb is not my own. It is ours. It is the climb of black men.
Black men and boys deserve access to healing. The planet earth needs the ripples that will form from their healing. This birthday I’m honoring my new decade by causing some waves.
With appointments costing $80-$250 per session the more funds we collect the more black women we can say “We see you, we hear you, we too are invested in your healing." I am raising funds to sponsor therapy sessions for as many black men as our collective donations can support.
