My name is Nejra and I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina, a very small and poor country in Europe. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a post-war country and is still struggling to bounce back from all the terrible things that happened during the war. Children and adults with special needs are one of the very affected groups whose needs are hardly recognized, and even rarely treated.
All equine activities in this country still exist solely because of the enthusiasm of people in love with horses and horseback riding.
I have been around horses since my second grade of elementary school (since I was 8 years old) and my love and passion has never faded, it has only gotten stronger. I love kids and I enjoy working with them, and the combination of children and horses is the most beautiful environment for me and it brings out the best in me.
Therapeutic riding is such an important kind of therapy and kids in Bosnia deserve to have access to it with professionals and people who know what they are doing.
I want to become a recognized therapeutic riding instructor, and be able to understand all the difficulties these children and their parents are dealing with every day. But I need your help. The program is very expensive and for someone in Bosnia hardly possible to finance it. I got accepted into a Therapeutic Riding Instructor training course starting in January in the US. Helping me would make it possible for all the children in Bosnia to experience all the benefits that this type of therapy could bring,
This program is a great first step in fulfilling my dream and giving children in Bosnia and Herzegovina the possibility to overcome their problems and take a look at life from the most beautiful perspective on Earth, on horseback.
