Campaign Story
My son Jamie-Lee is a loving a caring boy who had a bad start to teenage life due to trauma in his early part of growing up, and as a result has faced an ongoing battle with mental illness for about 4 years.
He has had episodes of psychosis which has led to arrests, drug use and erratic behaviour. After spending a year in a treatment centre in South Africa, he has now come home. After being home for a few days, it is clear that he is having another episode and has now been admitted for psychiatric care. Up to this point, Jamie has not been formerly diagnosed and has not been put onto proper medication to help stabilise his condition.
Mental health care providers in Zimbabwe are few and far between and without medical aid and zero assistance from the government, it is financially crippling. We are asking for your help to get him the help he needs to have a future. Jamie-Lee is a bright young man with his whole life ahead of him and he really just needs a helping hand.
Right now we are needing emergency assistance with the Psychiatric facility fees, as well as medication. From there, he will need to see a Psychiatrist on a regular basis, as well as his medication expenses, suitable accommodation and other necessities.
We are believing that once he receives a proper treatment plan for his mental condition, we can then tackle the drug addiction problem, which is always triggered by his episodes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! All donations will go directly to me (his mother), so that I can pay the bills accordingly. I work so hard to support him but I am a single mother trying to do the best for the good of his future but I currently do not earn much. We are praying that through your generous support, Jamie-Lee can have a shot at a better life and be able to gain back the years he has lost.
We so appreciate you and anything you can contribute to helping Jamie thrive again.
Your donations will go directly to the following:
1.Immediate payment to Psychiatric facility in Harare
2.Psychiatrist appointments on a regular basis
3.Prescription medication every month
4.Accommodations (rent payments) until he lands a steady job
5.Support for food and other expenses until he is working again
*If you would prefer to give local ZWL currency, ecocash or USD cash in person, please send me a message and I can send you the details.
