I’m hoping to raise around £500 to support retired greyhounds at the Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary, until they find new loving homes.

Hi.

My name is Tyler, I would like to say a keen runner but in truth I normally do it for special occasions, and there is one coming up!

In September I will be attacking the Rat Race Coast to Coast triathlon in Scotland with my brother of 11 years senior, Pat. It's 105 miles by foot, bike and boat from Nairn on the east coast to Glencoe on the west. Traversing up hill and down dale, it's not going to be easy!

I am raising funds for the East Midlands branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust, The Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary. This branch doesn't specifically have a charity number, they are under the main Trust's one, hence why I'm setting up a crowd funding page instead so the (hopefully!) very kind donations go directly to them.

"Why them?", I heard you cry?

John and Judith have ran this sanctuary for 16 years I believe, taking in retired hounds from Nottingham Stadium and re-home around 120-140 dogs a year! The thing is, once the owners have made their money from them, they are sadly no longer wanted. They, John and Judith, have recently won an award too, Volunteer of the Year at the CEVA Animal Welfare awards, for their fine efforts, along with the other helpers of course! Keeping these lovely dogs before a home is found for them obviously isn't cheap. They need bedding (would you enjoy sleeping on concrete floor if your were bony?), feeding which if they're all like our Bowie is a lot! Collars, leads, teeth cleaning sticks and paste, and not mention vets bills!

Whilst they mostly all tend to have fab health, they do get checked over at the vets prior to re-homing, receiving up to date jabs, and proper teeth cleaning if needed. So when you finally settle on which loving hound to take with you, they are all set to go!

£150 is all it cost to take home a fine 100% racing pedigree from them. We have twice. And I am hoping with the help from all my mates and their mates, to help the Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary with the amazing work they already do, and make their money go further!

Hopefully, I won't be too broken on the 12th of Sept when it's finished!

Thank you so much!
