The Celebration – An Homage to Our Mothers

The Celebration is a documentary series dedicated to the resilient and powerful women among us that unconditionally provide their families with love, light and care, and how this essence spreads beyond their homes to provide hope to their local communities and beyond.

A mother is a person of many faces. She is a caregiver, a worker, a wife, a daughter, a friend. She is a driver of the kitchen, the family, the home and in many cases, the economy. The purpose of this is to shine a spotlight on the women that hustle - that give themselves wholly and unconditionally to each of these roles, and ever so gracefully, on a day to day basis. In each episode we delve into the story of a mother and how she runs her show that not only benefits her family, but the community around her as well.

This documentary will be a 12-episode series that will take place across six different cities around Asia. Each episode will cast a spotlight on one woman character, or guided by a local co-host that will lead us to various characters, telling an in-depth story of the characters' journey, perseverance and sacrifice that she had endured, and selflessness that make light of her life and others around her. Other than solely telling the humbling story of the character, we will also highlight the entrepreneurial spirit that has invigorated her to create significant social and economical benefits for her family and the community.

Like most documentaries, we want people to walk away feeling enlightened and inspired. But more than anything, we want our audiences to walk away with gratitude. That sense of gratitude that empowers you and motivates you to act - to realise that it doesn’t take much in your day to day to make a difference.

Our team has started working together since the idea emerged in March early this year, and we have been able to attract growing interests from different non-profit and for-profit organisations, TV networks and film studios about our show during the past few months. This will be the first time for us to work on a documentary series collaboratively, and therefore we need to produce the pilot episode in order to raise funding for the whole season.

We have decided to begin our journey in Hong Kong; this is where our dots connect, where we find the fuel for our passions, and where we are inspired to produce this project. All of the funds raised from this campaign will go into the production costs of the pilot, and none of the core team members will be compensated.
