Help us build peace through entrepreneurship!

Greetings from The Base by CyprusInno in Nicosia, Cyprus!

We are so thankful to those who've donated to our campaign thus far! Your support means everything. Our team is preparing for a 2-day virtual forum titled "Opportunity from Crisis: Launching Your Innovative Idea in a Post-Pandemic World." The forum will feature an amazing, diverse lineup of expert speakers from Cyprus and around the world who will discuss topics to help inspire a new generation of young, post-crisis entrepreneurs on both sides of the island. We are preparing some of the studio functionality in The Base to film speakers live! You can learn more about the forum here: https://cyprusinno.com/virtual-forum-2021/.

Some prospective donors have had trouble donating via credit card and we recieved the following message from GoGetFunding below. As a second option, we've enabled PayPal! So, in case the normal checkout doesn't work, you can select the PayPal option just below it :)

"The message 'Authentication not available: do not benefit from liability shift' means that the card being used for the donation is not enrolled in a 3DS secure payment programme - this is an additional level of security applied by many sites as a fraud prevention measure and which may card issuers offer.

When a card does not have 3DS enabled on their card, the liability of fraud or loss shifts to the card issuer and they have to decide whether to authorise the payment. Many banks automatically decline authorisation when 3DS is not present, meaning the card cannot be used.

In these circumstances, a donor would either need to use a different card to donate, donate via a different method (such as the bank transfer option, or if the campaign has a PayPal account able to accept card donations consider this instead.) if it has been enabled on the campaign. Alternatively, you can contact your bank to ask if they will pre-authorise the payment.

I hope this helps clarify that the issue is not with our site, rather it relates to the card not having 3DS for one of the methods you have enabled. They should still be able to donate via bank transfer or PayPal."

Have a great week, thank you for your support, and more soon :)

Greetings from The Base by CyprusInno in Nicosia, Cyprus!

We're thrilled to let everyone know that we're feverishly preparing for a full opening as the pandemic conditions significantly improve here in Cyprus. Unfortunately, the division and our location in a Buffer Zone means our guests, partners, and stakeholders must cross a checkpoint, and when we combine a pandemic and an ongoing division this causes some challenges. However, we remain optimistic and push forward with our exciting new programming.

This update is specifically aimed at introducing you to our SDG Innovation Pre-Accelerator Program, a hybrid live and virtual pre-acceleration program using a blended methodology of ideation, business panning, pitching, networking, and mentorship to empower young social innovators from all across Cyprus ages 18-35 to tackle island-wide challenges related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What is a pre-accelerator? A pre-accelerator is a program focused on early stage startups and helps take them from concept to MVP (minimum viable product). It is meant for early stage founders or simply those with an idea who have the ambition to take their startup or idea full-time. In particular, we are inviting young individuals and teams with an idea for solving a social or economic challenge related to the 17 SDGs, bringing together Greek- and Turkish-Cypriots from across the divide through social innovation.

Applications have opened and selected teams will get access to:

  • Expert evaluation and feedback on you idea/startup from an expert jury of evaluators during application process
  • Free 2-day bootcamp with 16 hours of training on business model canvas, pitching, legal, leadership, etc., as well as access to mentorship
  • Access to mentors, office/co-working space at The Base by CyprusInno, and networking opportunities (ongoing support)

More info can be found at https://cyprusinno.com/sdg-innovation/

Have a great weekend, thank you for your support, and more soon :)
