Hello and thank you for visiting Emily and Varshini's funding page.

Between May and June, we will be delivering a 6 week project titled 'eternal sunshine' in a Udayan Care home for orphaned and abandoned girls in Delhi, India.

Working and living in a care home for young and teenage girls, providing pastoral support and delivering daily drama sessions our project aims to use Applied Theatre to build confidence and creative expression in these young women. By creating a space that the girls feel safe to express themselves and explore their lives in, we hope to encourage the girls to have raised self-esteem and a sense of identity.

The workshops we deliver will be centered around the children's picture book 'Cloudette' in which a little cloud has big dreams and struggles to realise its full potential. During her search for a place to fit in she discovers new adventures, new friends and her own strength and abilities in times of hardship. We will explore themes including: resilience, self-confidence, body image and, most importantly, hope.

The workshops will comprise of various strands: drama games, mindfulness practice, movement, self-affirmations and creative writing.

Why fund our project?

11 million children in India are living in care homes and over 90% of them are girls

Working with the young girls and applying our knowledge and experience of using theatre for social inclusion, the project hopes to give these young people access to a better future.
