eFiction India is a product of our love for the written word. We are a team of people and we work for this magazine because love what we do. We love going through the wonderful submissions that we receive every month, having the opportunity to review them, to give feedback to writers, to learn from them as much as we teach them in return. It a fun-filled experience!
In India, the culture of literary fiction is grossly misunderstood and overshadowed by the popular fiction that has flooded the markets. In such times, we believe it is absolutely important to help the readers distinguish between literary and popular works of fiction, push them to explore writings that are beyond the familiar bookstands. Because it is no surprise that it's tough to find a good market for good writing. We all know that good writing goes unnoticed, more often than not, and so we need good publishers to protect these writers. This is what is the guiding vision of eFiction India. We believe that we can give the kind of support and guidance that emerging writers in the subcontinent as well as abroad, can benefit from. We are also aware of the culture of literary journals and their shortcomings. We dont want to fall into the trap of being a 'Literary Journal' because the kind of relationship that we want to build with our readers and writers is beyond the scope of a literary journal. Therefore, at eFiction India, we constantly push personal and professional boundaries to give our best. Because here it's not the people or the market or pop culture that is what matters, it is the written word.
We need your blessings and support to get to a place where we can help more writers and garner appreciation through vast readership. In order to achieve this we are willing to take all the possible opportunities through your help.
Some of our goals are –
To acquire a printing press which would enable us not only to print your magazine at cheaper rates with an unlimited design options but also to expand our printing services to bring your books in the market.
To pay our writers so that they can do nothing else but what they know how to do best.
To pay our editors/artists/designers so that they quit their “other” jobs and deliver a better product every month. And give more time to budding writers in our workshops.
To create an audio magazine and distribute to all the blind schools in the world.
To create a platform for Podcasts/Videocasts where writers, publishers, editors and readers get together to connect, discuss trends and basically have a good time while they are at it.
