The Way of Saint James

The Camino de Santiago, or the Way of Saint James, is an 850 km journey beginning in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France and ending in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The journey has been made by millions of people of all religions, nationalities, race, and ages for over 1000 years. The journey traditionally ends in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela where the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried. Though many have taken the journey for religious purposes, the Camino de Santiago has helped many find themselves along the way. I have lost myself. I got involved in dozens of drugs, criminal activity, I have lost my family due to my past behaviour, and the one woman I truly love has left me. I have attempted suicide once before and I have suffered from depression for a long time. I know that everybody in life is supposed to have a purpose in life. There are no exceptions. Whether that purpose is good or bad. I want to take this journey to find my purpose. I want to find why I must keep going on.

I hope to bring back a collection of pictures and videos so I can show my future children, my future wife, and those in my life who I hope to inspire. I hope that this journey will give me a sense of humility and will help me win back the woman I love. Though the journey traditionally ends in the Cathedral, I am going to travel just west of the city. I want to go to the shore outside of Muxia and look out to the Atlantic Ocean. I want to be humbled by the sheer imensity and power of the waves crashing into the the rocks. I know that I seem to be rambling but there is simply no knowing exactly what I will find on this journey. I am working on collecting the money myself.
