The Villages of Goochland

 PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

THIS PROJECT WEAVES TOGETHER, COMMUNITY SERVICE, ART, AND HISTORY

 

WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?   The goal of this project is to create a series of paintings that tell a story of how people lived in the villages of Goochland from years gone by. Goochland has 5 districts. Each distict has at least one major village. The images for the paintings are being selected through a face book voting process that is open to the public. You can go to

The 5 Villages with the most LIKES will be what I develop a painting around!

HOW IS THIS A COMMUNITY PROJECT? This project is created by me, Patti Rosner. My objective is to create a collection of paintings that show our history at one point in time. The collection will be given to the county and will be housed in the Goochland Administration Building for the public to enjoy.  When the costs of the project are recovered, 100% of the PROFITS will be given to Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services and Goochland Historical Society.

Both of these non profit  groups benefit our friends and neighbors, and receive no government funding. Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services, provide services that are  geared to stabilizing and improving the lives of the impoverished, elderly, disabled, and at risk inidividuals and families.The Goochland Historical Society provides free services to those in our community doing local research,  family genealogies and provide the research for historical building registration for our local government.

 

PROJECT COST The paintings will be 30"x40" in size. They will be framed. Title plates and lettering for the exhibit will be purchased to give the exhibit a professional  look the county can be proud of. It is estimated to cost about $3,500.000.  Every time I purchase materials, and product merchandise, I will make EVERY effort to get the best price available, to get the project cost lower, so I can begin supporting the benefactors of this project!

 

WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION NOW ?    Great! You can contribute now by clicking on the merchandise of the 1830's Courthouse. You will receive your product in 3 weeks or less, depending on what you order.   By purchasing   NOW  you help get the project started! You can also make a cash donation, by checking the "no rewards" line, if you just want to help the project.

These products are a great way to represent our County to others, while contributing to a project that helps our friends and neighbors!

 

WHAT IF  I WANT TO WAIT AND CONTRIBUTE LATER?  No problem! This site will remain up. You can shop here any time, or contact me personally. As I begin to paint the villages in the districts, I will update the face book, so you can see the progress of the work. You can then order products that have the image of your district !  You may also make a contribution with no reward if you like.

REMEMBER   The examples of merchandise you see, are representative of what you can expect the product(s) that will represent your district  to look like. The paintings of The Villages will begin to be created when there are enough contributions in the account to start purchasing materials. HOW DO I PICK UP MY ORDER AFTER PURCHASE.      Please leave your contact information. You will be contacted when your product comes in. Some may take up to 3 weeks after order, some are available the next day. Products can be picked up at the Goochland Historical Society, 2875 River Road West, Goochland Virginia, 23063. Other arrangements can be made, just message me!
