The Venn Puzzle

I developed the Jack Puzzle as something of a statement piece — I thought it was an interesting object that added character to our collection and said something about how we think and what our priorities are. I wasn’t expecting it to sell particularly well, and we were stunned when it became one of our best selling products. — Hunter Craighill

The success of the Jack Puzzle gave us the confidence to produce another puzzle. We have been lucky to find an audience for many of the strange, sometimes-functional objects that we love to make, and we’re hoping to expand that audience through this Kickstarter campaign.

The puzzle will come with a small metal display stand, and it will come packed in a purpose-built custom cardboard tube.

Our designer Lorenz Mager has also created an original 11 x 17 inch print inspired by technical drawings of the Venn Puzzle.

Craighill is a design team based in Brooklyn, NY, founded by Hunter Craighill in 2015.

Our approach to design emerged from a simple combination of curiosity and impatience. Hunter studied architecture in college, but found that product-scale design better suited his interests and lack of patience. Product design allowed for an equally rigorous, justified approach to design decision making, but with results that could be seen in weeks rather than years.

Craighill produces considered objects of all varieties. Currently we focus on a combination of home and personal accessories, but we don’t limit ourselves to any one material, style, or category of product. We consider our catalog to be unified by a certain conceptual approach.

Risks and challenges

The main risks are associated with timelines. We're fully confident in our ability to deliver puzzles, but if our campaign were to significantly surpass our goal, we can't guarantee that all backers would receive their puzzles by the holidays.

At Craighill, we have a great deal of experience with delivering large orders on strict timelines, so we are certain of our ability to handle the fulfillment to our backers. If something unexpected does arise, we will maintain clear and open lines of communication with our supporters to keep them informed.
