Campaign Story
The Balkans are the region in Europe that in near history suffered the most. Starting from the WWI , followed by the Balkan war, then the WWII. After that it was time for the communistic era. Now this time is over but still the Balkans are the poorest region in Europe and there are still many issues with poverty, bureaucracy and sexism. The Balkan women were and still are the silent tower of strength that hold together the family and the society. They do not get enough recognition for their work, moreover in some Balkan countries like Bulgaria , there is a significant increase in the violence against women which often has a lethal end.
I want to travel to all of the Balkan counties which for the purpose of this project will be only the countries that are entirely within the Balkan peninsula - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia and trace down the stories of the women . I want to empower them by listening to what they have to say and show them that they have a voice as well.
The stories will be published in a blog and a help to the women that need help, will be provided.
