According to the World Health Organization W-H-O, there are more than 2.2 million people with visual impairment in Egypt. 900,000 of which are totally blind.

Most of which suffer from poverty, lack of accessibilities, ineffective educational techniques and governmental negligence; yet they still have hope in life and challenge their physical disabilities along with the disabilities created by the society. Will the status of visually disabled people improves?

The person with visual disability faces a lot of social problems. Over sympathy might seem the lightest of all, but may actually be the toughest in hurting the person’s emotions.

Inaccessibility of streets is another hardship that visually impaired people have to cope with. In most developed countries, sidewalks are designed to help people with visual disabilities to walk confidently without worrying to step over any obstacles ort o be run-over by a vehicle. However, this is not the case in Egypt. Sidewalks and pavements that are supposed to help the blind person walk safely are instead occupied by the street sellers, shops and parking cars. Visually disabled people who decide to walk alone in the streets of Cairo put their lives at risk.

And because all of that, We started The Blind Man Stick campaign.

The Smart blind man stick is a local invented and manufactured simple device that's supposed to change those people lives !

The stick got four different working stages

The first part is using some ultrasound sensors to determine any obstacle in their way and gives back a voice msg telling the approximate distance of that obstacle to you.

There are also a group of vibrating motors under the hand position on the stick which been put mainly to vibrate more and more as the person gets close to the fronting obstacle.

This stage alone would completely change their experience of walking through Egypt's streets.

The second part includes color sensor to identify the colors of their clothes so they won't need any help dressing to work at morning.

also a Temperature sensor to prevent any accidental touch to a boiling hot things.

And a light sensor to identify if the streer he's walking in is lighted and safe to walk across the street without being in a danger of getting hit by a passing car !

The third and final stage contains a gps module used to make an offline map specially made for each Stick owner contains his regular destinations around his home area.

Each stick would cost 300 $ and of course with no profit for us at all , just seeing our project helping and changing the community is all the profit we need ..

Please help them to get their simplest right to live in peace !
