The Second Bag Project

The Second Bag Project is a non-profit effort to help the preserve the environment by means of reusing old bags and reducing the use of new bags.

This project transforms secondhand paper bags to reusable ‘second bags’ by the use of labels.

This project collects secondhand paper bags from friends and other environmentalists, filters what is useable, then segregates them into different sizes. They later on label all the bags as ‘second bags’ and distributes them to partner stores that are open to the reuse of the bags for environmental conservation.

It not only aims to recycle the second bags, but also to lessen the use of new paper bags and plastic bags for environmental conservation.

In the long run, it dreams to become an official non-profit organization, later a foundation, that will serve a nationwide and worldwide effort to consciously reduce the use of new bags by reusing the ‘second bags’ in their different purchase encounters.

In 2016, The Second Bag was able to donate as much as 1,100 bags to different stores and bazaar groups in a span of a few months. Today, two years after its break, The Second Bag Project is back and more actively collecting and distributing second bags to join the force in preserving Mother Earth.

Aside from donating paper bags, we also need financial support so we can we more sustainable.

Donate Financially to Help Us Be Sustainable

One of the reasons why The Second Bag Project for two years was it became a challenge for us to maintain it both financially and with the volunteer resources. Help us maintain this by donating few amounts below:

• PHP 300 for 100 stickers
• PHP 120 for deliveries and shipping per partner store
• PHP 700 for our website per month
• Any amount for our food and snacks for our #FilterWeekends (This may be snacks for our #FilterWeekends (our segregation or volunteer weekends).
• Any amount for further maintenance of this effort.
