The Savant Son Education

Thank you for visiting our page! Your being here is the first step in helping us achieve our goal of raising funds that will help our son, Matthew, to study at the Treffert Way School for the Exceptional Mind in Wisconsin, USA.

The Treffert Way, the first and the only school of its kind, was established to primarily cater to the education, enhancement, and study of child savants all over the world, alongside their neurotypical peers. Unlocking the potential of the human brain through the education of child savants is one of the goals of the school. Dr. Darold Treffert, who has been studying and helping savants for nearly 60 years, will lead a team of doctors, therapists, and educators in implementing the Treffert Approach for the students enrolled in Treffert Way. Dr. Treffert was a consultant for the movie Rain Man, which brought awareness to the public, of the existence of Savant Syndrome and Autism.

Savant Syndrome is a rare but spectacular neurological condition in exceptional learners. It is characterized by “islands of genius” in any of these areas: music, art, calendar counting, math, or mechanical/visual-spatial.

Matthew is a boy from Manila, Philippines, and he has Savant Syndrome, specifically in the area of calendar counting and emerging visual-spatial. He was given a slot to study at Treffert Way for three years, starting SY 2019-2020. His education at Treffert Way is free, but acquiring the necessary paperwork and student visa, is not. For the F1 Student Visa, a fund of $60,000 per year, for a total of $180,000 for the three years that he is enrolled at Treffert Way is required. The fund will help Matthew to sustain living in the US since he is not a US citizen/resident.

Difficult? Yes! Attainable? Definitely! If this is a cause that you believe in, please give at least $1/P50 to the fund and then share it on your social media page or with at least 10 of your friends and ask them to do the same.
