Even if we have to wait for legislation changes during a very long time, we could help the animals by attracting funds and forces of people who care. In fact, stray dogs and cats need very little — a little bit of food, some medicines, shelter, and the most important thing they need is love and care. The reason of existing few charities in our country, in my opinion, is people’s lack of enthusiasm, organizational skills and the desire to prove themselves. Personally, I have some thoughts on the organization a temporary shelter for homeless animals in our city, and I'm sure that many of my friends will be happy to take part in the project. I hope that our joint efforts will contribute to decreasing the number of stray animals in the streets. On the way home from school I often meet dogs and cats in the park, in the courtyards of apartrnent buildings and right in the streets. Just one look at these animals is enough to understand that they are hungry and do not have any owners or comfortable housing. Of course, I try to lay up a sandwich for them or something else to eat, but unfortunately, my sandwich does not solve the numerous problems associated with stray animals.

I believe that the best solution of the problem is organizing

shelters for homeless animals. Of course, their keeping requires a lot

of money, and not every city budget can afford it. It would be very

helpful to make fines for violent and irresponsible treatment of animals

tougher. If all of offenders were identified and punished, the funds

received would make more than enough for the maintenance of

"dormitories" for our smaller brethren. On the way home from school I
