The Issue

First and Foremost this crowdfunding page is about raising awareness for mental health issues. I think mental health is one of the most stigmatised and underfunded areas of medicine today. It is an issue across many cultures and for both sexes. In the past I myself have been unlucky enough to experience some issues with my own mental health and I have close friends and family who have also. I am sure many people reading this can also empathise with this.

Ofcourse the issue is much much bigger than me and I'll give 2 facts around that highlight the issue in the 2 countries I have lived in.

1. In the UK suicide is the biggest cause of preventable death between 25-49 year old men (https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/statistics/mental-...)

2. In the Czech Republic it is the biggest killer of girls aged 15-19 and it is accountable for 30 percent of deaths of young women between 20 and 29. (https://www.radio.cz/en/section/news/czech-suicide...)

Suicide is certainly the ultimate penalty for untreated mental health problems (and its an issue that has affected my own family)

Having never ran any kind of distance race in my life i've decided to run the Prague Half Marathon on 6th April. My training begins today and most of it will probably be done close too and below freezing temperatures.
