On the 1st October, we set upon a mission to busk across London at least three times a week to raise as much money as we possibly could for very special children whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Music is one of the only things that can carry you through the pain you experience when losing someone you love to cancer. It allows you to grieve, express how you feel and to slowly pick up the pieces that the disease leaves behind. Most importantly, it allows you to carry the person you have lost with you in a way that nothing else can.

I was seventeen when I lost my dad to cancer on Christmas day, at the time I didn't realize how much it had actually impacted me. But in the years to follow I slowly watched as I lost all of my confidence and let my dreams of being a professional singer slide away. It took me four years to rebuild that which I lost, but I am now thrilled to be back singing and gigging around London.

In Easter of this year, I had the privilege of meeting a very special little girl: Charlotte, who was battling cancer. When we met, the first thing she told me was how she wanted to be a singer. I stood there and in awe I watched her sing Adele's 'Someone like you'. It was in the brief time that we spent together that something clicked inside of me and I realized that life is far too short to worry about what people think! Life is too short to care whether people will support and believe in what we do. Life is too short and often over way before we are able to say all that we want to say.

Charlotte passed away on August 6th, my birthday and it is in her memory that I will run the busking challenge from September - December each year. Funds will be raised for selected children affected by cancer who truly deserve a special Christmas.

I hope that you will join us on our challenge and fingers crossed we raise as much as we possibly can so that Santa can do his rounds.

Charlotte is one of many children who are faced with cancer - let us raise as much as we possibly can for these children.  We cannot erase the pain that cancer leaves behind but we can help to create as many fun filled memories as possible for the time that we have.

Charlotte how very softly you tip-toed into my world, almost silently and only a moment you stayed. But what an imprint your footprints have left upon my heart.
