The Power of Food Giving Campaign

Thank you for your interest in the Jones Valley Teaching Farm "POWER OF FOOD" Giving Campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to cover a portion of the costs for our two after school programs: Farm Club and Student-Run Market.

1. Farm Club: Farm Club after school programs provide an opportunity for students to become stewards of their school's Teaching Farm. They help maintain the outdoor classroom and prepare food with the produce they have grown. All classes are led by a Jones Valley Teaching Farm instructor.

2.Student-Run Market: Each Fall and Spring, teams of students sell produce to their teachers, parents, and community members at each school site. Through an accompanying curriculum, students learn new math skills and best practices in running their own small business, while providing direct access to produce, fruit, and flowers.

Impact:

•We educate over 20,000 students through our Teaching Farms (4,000 annually)

•We grow over 18,000 pounds of fresh produce across seven teaching farms annually

•Six of our Teaching Farm are located on Birmingham City Schools’ campuses

•We host over 800 lessons per year

•We lead 80 Student-Run Markets at six Teaching Farms every school year
