"The Past , The Present , The Future"

We decided to name this campaign "The Past , The Present , The Future" , because our main goal is to help the elders which symbolizes the past,
they hold precious memories as well as life stories which all of us can learned from.
the teenagers which represents the present, they are in the stage where they are looking for their rightful place in this world,
and the kids which represents the future, these kids are the future, they hold so much hope and dream.

I. A Little Bout Me

Hi everyone, thank you so much for stopping by and taking a glimpse of our campaign. It already means a lot to us  :)
To start of , im a half Korean and half Filipino and I'm currently staying in the Philippines to continue my studies since i already finished my military services
for my name I shall remain anonymous but you guys can call me James , its my English name my friends
here in the Philippines have given me since they are having a hard time pronouncing my name, but anyway, to cut to the chase.

I have this subject called NSTP, its like being a boy scout or a fireside girl where we go out and do community service the only difference is that we also do military training and alike. Recently we were on field. we went on some kind of an orphanage / community (not really sure what its called)
in this "orphanage" they have 4 "homes"
A. the 1st home was for children age 1-5 who were abandoned by their parents.
B. the 2nd home is called girls home, some of them were sexually abused and were rescued
C. the 3rd home is called boys home , these boys were rescued from the streets , some of them have committed crimes and even used and sell illegal drugs.
D. the 4th home is for the aged people, these elders were abandoned by their family because they can no longer do anything.

II. The Campaign

Im doing this campaign on behalf of my friends because when we were there, we had a talk with some of the elderly and at
the same time had a great time playing games with the kids there. most of the stories I personally herd from the elderly were pretty much the same
but still heart breaking , some of them said they were sent their by their own relatives, saying they will return to pick them up later , but they never returned.                         Even though that being said still, this lovely elders find ways to enjoy each other's company , by dancing, singing and playing chess. The volunteers there
teach and help them enhance their skills , that way if ever when the time comes and their families decided to get them back , they can still help in
small ways rather than being a burden to them.
On the other hand i cant find an appropriate word to describe the stories of the children
some of them were molested, some of them were beaten up by their own parents
and some of them were use to commit illegal acts like selling illegal drugs since they wont be sent to jail.

III. The Problem

The orphanage is arranges and ran by a group of volunteers, and the funds they use is basically coming from the city government and also donation,
and with the lack of volunteers as well as funds, there might come the time when the "orphanage" will have to close and the community within it
would go back wandering in the streets, right now the orphanage is really in need of fund to continue their services.
the place is big but it lacks a lot of equipment as well as room / infrastructure because the population in the "orphanage" continues to grow
The main problem that were focusing on right now is:

1. The elders need wheel chairs and medicine, some of them have severe condition like tuberculosis and cataracts.
* There are about 360 elders in the orphanage. (well at least that's what the admin there told us)
2. The children need reading materials and other educational material, some of them also recquires medical attention.

IV Objective

Our objective is simple
1. Buy the elders some wheel chairs since most of them are having a hard time walking around

* if we raise enough money we can probably pay for their medication as well
2. Buy school material the children can use like books since when we went there we saw that there were around 6 or 7 children sharing 1 book

*if we raise enough money we're planning on having their teeth check by a dentist since
most of them are suffering tooth ache because of cavities, and one of the volunteers there even told us that some children have intestinal parasite or stomach worm something like that because these children keep on biting their nails / fingers. some of them are even malnuorished.

3 We're planning on donating or building rather a basketball court and soccer field so these kids would have a chance to play these outdoor activity.

*I know it may sound crazy for you guys, but like what i said earlier the place is big and has open field, i hope you're not thinking that we're planning on buying a lot and turned that to a basketball court or soccer field :) .

4.We are going back there around December or somewhere in mid January , and if we do raise enough money , we want to throw a small Christmas party for the children.

V. A Little Word From ME / US

We're not expecting that much but we do hope that we can get a little help out from this and from you guys, we've been trying to raise funds since we went there
and its been a hell of a journey , but that feeling you get when you were able to help even in simple way is not something you feel everyday.
I started this campaign because a kid came to me and said that she wants me to adopt her, as much as I wanted do I cant. I mean I'm still a student, I still depend on my parents, so in return maybe at least i can do something not just for her, but for all of them.
sorry for the very limited pictures because while we were there
we were oriented and told that taking picture with the elderly is not allowed , i personally don't know why either.
some of the photos are not mine, i just decided to use them to show you guys how hard life would be both for these children and those children that are still out there, if the "orphanage" decided to close down they will be begging on the streets , swim on the flood and so on.
Hopefully me and my friends can keep an update with this campaign when we go back there and upload more photos
on behalf of my friend I would like to say thank you to everyone .
~cheers

"we decided to remain anonymous, because we believe that helping others is something you should do because you wanted and loved to, not because
you're being told to do so or because you want people to praise you."
