The Menstrual Cup Initiative

This is a initiative to help young women from underprivileged rural and urban communities.

Help us contribute menstrual cups that will be donated/ distributed somewhere in the world. It doesn’t matter where in the world, poverty affects us all at the end of the day.

Here is a brief description of what menstrual cups are. Menstrual cups are re-usable cups that look like a cattle bell, they are usually made of medical flexible silicone.

Re-usable cups are stress free for women from less privileged backgrounds i.e these young women don't have to worry about where they will get the money to buy their next packet of sanitary towels, which can be extremely expensive for families with zero income.

l have a very clear memory of what it was like when l started my first period, coming from a struggling family myself and brought up by my grandmother. My first period was a nightmare, l had to gather toilet paper or use cotton wool and sometimes even pieces of clothing. l remember sitting in class worrying about staining my one and only school uniform, let alone being mocked for days that followed.

Young women in the rural villages are going through a lot, from missing school to being mocked by their schoolmates during their period, simply because they can’t afford proper sanitary towels.
