The Medical Volunteer Team Needs an Ambulance

Aris N Gae works as a medical volunteer located in the Teong district, Lanamai Village, Riung Barat city - Bajawa district in the remote village of the island of Flores. This area is also quite difficult to reach using transportation. Everyday Aris always works using a motorcycle to bring medicines to the local village community.

The number of villagers who lately have been affected by malaria and dengue fever is an obstacle for the volunteer team. Because the facilities and infrastructure such as transportation equipment in the form of an ambulance does not exist. Whereas residents who are in a state of illness are only carelessly treated.

They must bring the sick community using a motorbike. In fact, it is not uncommon for them to carry sick patients to the nearest clinic that is 200km away or three hours away by public transportation. "We do this voluntarily but we don't have adequate tools such as ambulances to help the sick people, we really need it to help more people," said Aris.
