The Meal is an annual gathering in Geneva to raise money for community agricultural projects all over the world. This year they focus on Jai Jagat, a year-long walk from Delhi to Geneva to campaign for Justice and Peace, social equality and climate justice. The walk was halted in Armenia in March due to the COVID-19 restrictions and it will resume when once the prevailing conditions change.

In the meanwhile, the organisers of Jai Jagat are addressing the devastating effects of COVID-19 in rural India. Funds raised from this virtual meal will support their activities with displaced migrant workers across India, organising Food Relief, building Accommodation and developing Livelihoods, and include a 25% contribution towards the work of the UK support group, Jai Jagat 2020 UK.

Join us, wherever you are, whoever you are with, in a meal of solidarity with people who have been so severely affected by the Indian government's response to the COVID-19 crisis and make a contribution to their efforts.

With your free ticket, you get a pack of goodies: information about where your money is going; recipes from Madras Café's new Cookbook; a link to songs about Peace from around the world, our JaiJagat 2020 Snakes and Ladders game for all the family and the knowledge that you have made your contribution to relieving some of the stress on rural communities and helping people to collaborate in making a future for themselves.

This is to say a big thank you to all of you who so generously donated to Jai Jagat 2020 UK's appeal to support migrant workers in India who are displaced through Covid-19 strictures, with 25% going to support our group and community efforts here in the UK. So far,. . . . .

  • A bit late in the day - but a dinner was had and thoughts of this amazing initiative given whilst we ate. Well done to all who are actively engaged in this organisation, especially Ginnie and Nicholas.
