The Love Liberia Project is to support children who have been left without education due to the broken state of the educational system in Liberia after the war and the Ebola crisis. Liberia now has a population of 52% illiteracy rate, with most of these being young children. Many lost their parents during the 14 years of civil war and the recent Ebola crisis.
The war damaged the schools, leaving them with no furniture or resources needed for adequate education. For example, there are no libraries, no basic learning materials, such as: Books, Computers, Structured learning plans, etc.
Presently, a great number of children are out of school, left in the street or are living with family members who can not afford to send them to school. Instead, adult family members send these children to sell groceries in the streets/market, rather than attending school. In Liberia, the majority live on less than 1 dollar a day. Hence, with a nation this poor, food is more important than education. However, every child should receive adequate amount of both in order to thrive and have a better future.
The funds raised for this project would be used to provide educational resources for children, Scholarships, aid training courses for teachers and finally, it will aid the outreach to towns and villages to encourage parents and carers to send their children to school. The future plan is to build a free school and caring home for as many of thes children as possible that this project can help.
We want to help rebuild Liberia! Thus, we believe this project is very important because these children are the hope for a better future for Liberia. Finally, we believe that education is a child’s key to success; therefore, every child in Liberia should be given the opportunity to have the right to welfare and education, that is adequate and appropriate for their well-being, learning and development.

Many thanks
