After being at sea for so long, I can
see the shore!
The “little bank” seems about to pop, I'm on the short-list for a contractor job with the “big bank” which pays much better is also in play. I have a preliminary interview with another bank on Friday. Today I applied to a temp job as an on-line tutor teaching ESL to Chinese students overnight(!) for some short term income. I'm paddling as fast as I can.
Till I reach the shore, I'm going to need some help.
The last 18 months have been a challenge. I was self-supporting till I returned from my father's funeral and my car got totaled by a drunk driver, eliminating my sole source of income. My open-ended travel to and from Florida to move my mom during hurricane Irma only added to the stress.
Then I got hit by a car July 4th.. which put a real crimp in my job hunt.
However, the re-invention process has started yielding results.
The “little bank” job doesn't start training till September, even while the other jobs are still in play. This is about to turn into a cash crisis till I see my first pay check mid-September. My budget for essentials for the next 2 months includes food, internet, phone, trustee, doctors, lawyers, meds, condo fees, laundry, grooming, taxes, counseling, transportation and insurance. I'm budgeted right down to the last razor blade.
This total is about $900 through mid-September.
I did my homework. The funding appeal site I'm using is the most cost-effective in the business. Their fees are much lower than Gofundme. GoGetFunding.com fees to me are a flat 4% and 25 cents per transaction, where Gofundme can be upwards of 15% (Fee info here GoGetFunding fees ) Funds are available in 24 hours which will allow me to resolve needs in real time.
I've also set up a direct PayPal link which further lowers my fees. PayPal direct link (Ask me for my user ID)
Yes, I'm drinking from the same well I visited five years ago when I had to hire a lawyer to save my house. Since then I've lowered my overhead and maximized my savings. Aldi, DollarTree and the CTA are my new best friends.
If I wasn't this close, I wouldn't ask.
