Who We Are

The Kaiwa Podcast is a student-run bilingual platform at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Japan. The Japanese word "kaiwa/会話" directly translates to "conversation" as we hope to create a recipe for conversations and inspire our audience.

We initially began as a small passion project led by three students in October 2020. Since then, the podcast has released episodes ranging from women's liberation to entrepreneurship and personal branding. Our other interests include dissecting college experiences, relationships, politics, mental health and student ventures. Today, the podcast is run by a diverse team of passionate and vocal students from Nepal, South Korea, Liberia, Japan, India and Indonesia.

What We Do

Since the podcast's founding, we have released 20 episodes. We upload our episodes bi-weekly and have accumulated over 2,300 total plays in approximately 65 countries. With one of our primary aims being to empower the APU community, we have had over 22 guests from the APU student body, faculty, and alumni association.

Why We Have Launched This Campaign

Our podcast creation process involves remotely recording, editing and distributing episodes through free platforms like Zencastr, Audacity and Anchor. Despite the availability of these options, the lack of microphones and headphones significantly lower the audio quality of our episodes. The first episode that we released accumulated 100 total plays and today, this number has multiplied by more than 20. While it is clear that the content we are creating are of interest to our audience, the low quality of our audios have hindered the expansion of our reach. Considering that podcast platforms are audio-only, the quality of audios are of utmost importance. Thus, we are kindly requesting you to help us acquire the necessary recording equipment.

Reasons for the Unit of Items

2 Microphones & 2 Headphones - The units of equipment here will facilitate for 2 of our hosts to simultaneously record different episodes and be ahead of our episodes releasing schedule.

5 Pop filters - There are currently 5 hosts within The Kaiwa Podcast and as a COVID-19 prevention method, we believe it is necessary that each host has a separate pop filter for hygiene purposes.

Kaiwa Podcastとは

The Kaiwa Podcastは、立命館アジア太平洋大学(APU)の学生が運営している、日本語・英語、両言語を 使用したPodcastです。私たちの話がリスナーたちの会話にインスピレーションを与えることを願うので、コ ミュニケーションという意味を込めた「「会話(kaiwa)」という言葉使いました。私たちは、2020年10月に3人 の熱意を持った学生を中心に、小さなプロジェクトとしてスタートしました。それ以来、このポッドキャストでは 女性の解放から起業について、パーソナルブランディングなどさまざまなトピックについてエピソードを作っ てきました。その他にも、大学での経験、人間関係、政治、メンタルヘルス、学生ベンチャーなどについても 取り上げたエピソードもあります。また、各エピソードトピックに合わせ、ゲストの方にも出演していただいて います。そして現在は、ネパール、韓国、リベリア、日本、インド、インドネシア出身の学生たちによって運営 されています。

私たちの活動

ポッドキャスト創設以来、20のエピソードを配信してきました。毎週、新エピソードをアップロードし、約65カ国 で2,300回以上の再生回数を記録しています。APUのコミュニティを活性化させることを主な目的の一つとし ており、これまでに22名以上のAPU学生、教職員、校友会の方々にゲストとしてご出演いただきました。

本キャンペーンを実施する理由

私たちのポッドキャスト制作では、Zencastr、Audacity、Anchorなどの無料プラットフォームを使って、遠隔 操作でエピソードを録音・編集・配信しています。しかし、メンバーのほとんどが録音時に使用しているのは イヤホンマイクであり、会話内容が鮮明に聞こえず、リスナーの方々に良質な音声をお届けすることができ ていない状態です。最初に公開したエピソードの総再生回数は100回でしたが、今日では20回以上に増え ています。私たちが作っているコンテンツに関してはリスナーの皆さんにとっても興味深いものであると思い ますが、音声の質が低いことが私たちの今後の活動に問題をもたらすことを懸念しています。ポッドキャスト において、配信できるのは音声のみであることを考えると、音声の品質は最も重要です。そこで、必要な録 音機器を手に入れるために、皆様のご協力をお願いする次第です。
