The Insistent And The Negligent

SOURCE: Based on a true story, my uncle (Read Patiently)

REASONS/ PLANS:
1. To alert the world that there are still far too many deaths, due to HIV in rural areas and villages.
2. To expose the causes of, reasons for and factors flavoring the prevalence of HIV, despite several attempts to eradicate it, or reduce it's kill rate. The government, medics clergy, clan and the victims could fuel it's prevalence or reduce it.
3. Alert and educate the communities and the affected rural population with right information and applicable ways to live HIV free or live with HIV, and yet with confidence and self esteem.
4. To do this in an entertaining way since gathering people, organizing workshops, meeting the district officials is a lot of work loss of money and mostly fruitless.

SUMMARY

A young man, in his early 20's, in a family of five siblings, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, falls in love with the wife of his elder brother, a soldier, HIV positive and the family does not know.

The husband realizes the affair and lets the family know, but they don't confront the young man, not knowing the woman was HIV positive.
The husband dies, the young man cohabits with the young widow. His brother advises him not to, but his mother and uncles support him, for the sake of pension, National Social Secuirty Funds (NSSF) and gratuity money. After them producing two kids, while ignoring the signs and symptoms of HIV, the woman goes with her friends to the nearby facility where an awareness on HIV is being done. The medics don't disclose the results to her, (because the medics are her very close friends and village mates) but tell it to her friends who came back and stigmatized her, so she refuses to go for treatment feeling ashamed. The young husband hears the rumours from a drinking joint and begins mistreat her. The family begins to dissociate with them, pushing him to build far away. It becomes unbearable for her, and she refuses to eat, lives in denial then finally dies. The young man, due to loss of his wife, the sidelining by his family in fear of the disease, the stress of having to take drugs everyday and look after the two kids alone in an isolated house, he is depressed. His uninformed friends tell him that the ARVs are government ways of reducing the population and lifespan of the citizens. Others tell him, the drug is a coalition of the government and satanist, to take the souls of men, (a common belief in the village!) and others said several other things, so he stops taking drugs ( due to wrong info).
When his health gets bad again, he visits the hospital, and after examination, he's put back on medication.
Later on, his kids are taken away by the late wife's family for dowry reasons. With no one to encourage him, he begins to think that there's no reason to live; he betrayed his brother, lost his wife, neglected by his family, separated from his children. So he stops taking drugs and was found dead! At his burial, the clergy refuses to perform the ceremony, that the young man never went to Church, and his kids are affected a lot, thinking even God hates people with HIV. The kids are isolated from the kids of their aunt where they are staying, during playing, eating, etc. Finally, a team comes to teach people about living HIV free and on ways to live a productive life with HIV, and that is me and you partner.
The end.
