Josh’s’ career traverses stage and music.

His theatre career began at the age of 12, when he starred in the original manila production of the Tony award winning musical Falsettos, produced by New Voice Company in 2002. During his junior year in high school, he was cast in his first Repertory Philippines production, Disney’s Mulan Jr., and for five years in a row continued to be casted in their shows such as, Jack and the Beanstalk, Seussical, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Scrooge.

During his years in Rep, he was cast in two original musicals; Proudly Green! A musical celebrating 100 years of La Salle, where he performed alongside theatre veterans like Isay Alvarez, Robert Sena and JM Rodriguez. Then a year after, Josh was cast in Flight of a Falcon: A Musical History for Adamson University, where he was cast as Alexander Athos Adamson, one of the founders of the university, directed by Ku Aquino and Jeremy Domingo, with original music composed by William Manzano.

Josh has been known to be casted in a variety of roles, from important people in education, to a dormouse, a Chinese soldier and the list goes on. He has also been known to take on biblical roles such as Mordecai, in a Trumpets Playshop workshop production of My Fair Esther, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and probably his most challenging role to date—Jesus Christ in Amazing God, directed by Robbie Guevara.

In addition to his professional theatre experience, Josh has also been a part of many theatre workshops, and recitals under Philippine Opera Company, Trumpets Playshop, Trumpets Musicademy, Julie Borromeo Performing Arts Foundation, 9 Work’s Stage Camp, Philippine Theatre Actors Guild and more.

Other productions include, It’s A Charlie Brown Christmas! (Charlie Brown) for Trumpets Playshop, Marco Polo: An Untold Love Story for Artists Theatre Company, The Wiz (Scarecrow) for Julie Borromeo Performing Arts Foundation, A Christmas Carol for 9 Works Theatrical (which had its first run in 2016 and another run in 2017), and is currently in an original musical adaption of the timeless book, The Little Prince, produced by Make Believe Productions, directed by Lesley Leveriza Lina, and with original songs by Pipo Lina. The soundtrack of The Little Prince is available on Spotify.

Although in love with theatre, Josh’s first love is music and singing. He has been vocally trained by some of the best in the music business, starting at The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab, then moving on to Trumpets Musicademy, Philippine Opera Company and was privately tutored by baritone, Lionel Guico for three years. In a span of 12 years he has starred in many music events, recitals and benefit concerts. In 2017, he launched himself as a solo artist in his first solo concert, The Music of the Night with Josh Michael at Staple and Perk Café, Makati. Since then, he has continued to showcase his dynamic vocals in many music venues in the metro. Concert credits include: Vocal Powerhouse: Josh Michael at 12 Monkeys Music Hall, Whiskey and Whiskers: Josh Michael and Kiko Ramos at Emperius Bar Manila, A Christmas Wish at 12 Monkeys Music Hall, My Name is Josh Michael at Damiana’s Kitchen, Makati.

In 2019, Josh just finished his first directorial project for St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Balintawak; directing a one night only production of “Senakulo”, and will be directing a Christmas production for them in December.

This Filipino-French tenor is also a musical theatre teacher for schools, churches and theatre companies. He is also a wedding singer, and has sung at many corporate and special events. He recently joined the City of Voices Chamber Singers.

---

On February 26, 2020, Josh has been chosen to represent the Philippines, along with other talented singers, to compete at the Stars of the Albion competition at the 2020 Euro Talent Festival. But the experience is not free, Josh has to raise 250,000 pesos in order to secure his spot in the competition. The money will provide him with lodging (8-10 days), food, visa documents and application fees, airfare, travel insurance, airport transfer, promotion, publicity and team jacket.

Currently finding ways to raise money for the trip, it would be greatly appreciated to get funding through here, and to give an artist an opportunity of a lifetime, and help fulfill his dreams.

God bless you all! <3
