Hello! My name is Rachel Khaw and I need your help..
as GREEN as Iceland!
How does it feels to live in a world where 99% of consumed electricity is produced by sustainable energy? Many may question, including myself. But in Iceland, this is how energy are produced! I am very lucky to be given a possibly once in a lifetime oppurtunity to visit Iceland, the land where sustainability is seen every where this Winter through a experimental learning program called The Green Program (click in the link to learn more about it!) Its exciting because I will get to study and tour geothermal and hydroelectric power plants, see the quiet yet powerful wind turbines and also taste the biofuel made in the shadow of a volcano. I will get the chance to witness the importance of sustainable development and how it can positively affect the energy consumption and economy of a country.
The price for this program is not cheap. It will cost a whopping $4000 for the 10 days learning adventure. Which is a very huge amount for a university student especially from an Asian country where the currency is low...
Hold on... Why $5000?
Well the program fee does not include airfares and travel insurance. Looking at the recent trend in prices (checked using skyscanner to ensure that what I get is the lowest price), It will cost anywhere from $800-$1000 for a round trip.
In the mean time, I will also be working part time to earn some money to pay for the trip/program but I am still a full-time university student so it is impossible for me to save up that big amount of money in such a short period of time....
I guess that's it.. I really Need your Help
I need you all to help make this a dream come true.
I need you all to lend a hand in helping me move closer to my goal of making an impact on energy, especially in Asian countries.
I need you all to understand that if sustainable development is not being carried out more, mother Earth will die sooner.
I need you all so I can contribute in looking for solutions for Global warming crisis.
I need you all to support me for this once in a lifetime learning experience.
Thank you all in advance and If this really works, every one gets a handwritten postcard/ small souvenir as a token of appreciation! Love ya'll
