The Green Stone – Transforming People’s Lives by Bridging our Global Village

What is The Green Stone?

And why is it important?

The mineral wealth of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is well know. What is less well known is that there are very practical solutions available to change the process of how business works in our global village. The Green Stone is a 32 lb (14.6 kg) piece of green obsidian that is being transported from the east of the DRC to the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, Washington. The Green Stone will be used to tell stories of how easy it can be to transform the lives of people in the villages in the east of the DRC when we change our view of how we purchase minerals and gems we need and purchase – people to people.

When we can all act in small ways to transform the way business works then it will work better for all of us. How often do we hear or say “They have a problem with poverty or corruption, and there is nothing I personally can do about their problems. The problems are just too big.” The reality for all of us is that we all have a problem. We need to transform our thinking of what is possible in our world by transforming the way and how we look at what is possible in our world.

We will not be able to solve all the problems overnight however we will be able change our world for the benefit of all when we look at the problems we all face as grains of sand. If we can all take just one grain of the sand of our thoughts and transform them into possible solutions then we can make progress with poverty and corruption and the environment of our world.

The Green Stone will be used to tell the stories of hope and possibilities of the miners and families who bring us the minerals and colored gemstones we need and want in our lives. Help us transform the way hope is created in our world, one grain of sand at a time.
