The girl with the limegreen scarf is like Superman or Batman but she wears the cape (in her case, her scarf) on her head and she fights with villains deep within her.

Hi. I'm Rachel Joy Cabantog, a med student from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

I am writing to ask for help for my dear friend, Lora Jean Montalbo, who is also a clinical clerk from the same university. She is currently on leave of absence since she was recently diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (Non-Hodgkin).

One month into clerkship when she experienced cough that wouldn't go away and so she had an xray revealing an anterior mediastinal mass surrounded by the vital vessels of her heart.

She had already undergone treatment since Sept 13, 2019 and currently on her 4th out of 6 cycles of chemotherapy R-CHOP. A vial of Rituximab costs more than 100, 000 pesos. She still has remaining cycles of chemotherapy and PET scans done to visualize the mass are very expensive.

When I heard about her condition, I cannot believe how someone's life could change in just a snap. Just like how Thanos' snap wiped out half the population, a snap changed her life. She's almost there. It's almost graduation and she is starting to study for the revalida.

She took a leave of absence and I felt helpless. This is just a very small act I can do for her.

I hope and pray that the person reading this, even if he or she cannot give monetary donation, will realize how valuable life is. I pray for LJ and for you.

I am no superhero, but you can be a hero and help save her.

For those who have been blessed with more than enough, you could help her financially and send donation to her account.

  • I am a ust med grad and a Hodgkin Lymphoma survivor. I know how hard it is to be in your situation now, Lora. When i was diagnosed, I had a lot of uncertainties. But i just prayed and kept my faith in God. Take this time to heal yourself and to spend time with your family. It won't be easy but each day will get better.

All About the Painting and Gratitude

Update posted by Rachel Joy Cabantog at 03:46 am

The Girl with the Lime green ScarfAbout the painting...I only paint when I am inspired and at the peak of my emotions. That time, I wanted to visit LJ so badly but I couldn't since she was already immunocompromised after chemotherapy and I had a cough. I don't want to. . . . .
