For as long as I can remember I have dreamt of being in Africa and helping the children who were less fortunate than myself. I have dreamt about the sun, the people, the scenory and every dream became a reality over these last few weeks.

When I arrived in Uganda I went to Kisoro, where I would begin my work. I visited some local schools where I decided I was going to start my projects. Thhey were Mutolere Primary School and St. Gertrude's Girls secondary school.

St.Gertrude's is a school that has a lot of infrastructure. The reason I chose to work with them is because with jut a little help they can improve to a standard that will really stand out in the district and produce a high standard of students.

Both school's have very basic needs, such as work books for students to learn from in class and teaching material. Because the schools lack these basic needs it affects the education the children receive and teachers only have so much they can work on from their own mind.

Mutolere Primary School has just under 1200 students, with 22 teachers and no enough classrooms. The building of 5 new classrooms was begun 2 years ago but soon stopped due to a lack of funding. My aim is to finish at least 2 of the classrooms next year so that we can better the standard of teaching. Due to a lack of funding from the government Mutolere primary school is unable to provide a lunch for the children. So I am going to start a project using the land that St.Gertrude's has to grow the food to provide lunch. I have a friend who is working on a similar project at the local hospital helping me start this up. I return for letting us use their land, I will build a new kitchen for St. Gertrude's as their's is in a very poor state.

I know have a daughter, her name is Edith Nyirarukundo she is 9 years old. When Edith was younger she was severly burnt on her head, her right hand and her upper legs. Edith lost both of her parents at a young age and now lives with a family friend (Known as Grandma) Grandma is a peasant working in the fields, and struggles to provide for Edith and the 3 other children she has been left to look after. Often she cannot provide a meal each day for the children, so they go hungry. After talking with Grandma, I decided to take Edith as my Daughter because I had grown to love her, for the girl she is and how she has moved me and given my heart so much joy.

In december when I return Edith and I will go to look for a new house, where we will start our new life together.

Thank you for all the support you show me I am forever grateful.

With love

Josh
