Details:

Hey! I just need 3 minutes of your time to read this.

I’m doing something a little left-field for my birthday this year…

And I just need your attention for 3 minutes, so I can properly explain.

So here goes…

Last year for my b day I did something a little crazy… but it turned out to be huge fun!

Last year I celebrated my b day entirely on my Facebook Timeline! I used the online party to play trivia on my life, and give away gift cards to lots of lucky people.

The tagline was “It’s My Birthday, but YOU Get The Gift! I’m telling you it was crazy fun :)

Here are the complete details if you’re curious http://bit.ly/Last-Years-FB-Party

This year though, I’m flipping things around a little…

To celebrate my 33rd Birthday, I’m raising money for the Hospital - starting right now, all the way up until my birthday on Wednesday February 19th...

Friendsday Wednesday!!!

That’s the name of the fundraiser - Friendsday Wednesday :)

Because you’re a good friend, my bday is on a Wednesday, and I really need your help to make this a success.

Actually, I’m raising funds for Toronto General Hospital to be exact…

And 100% of funds raised go straight to the hospital.

Like I said I could really use your help with a donation that’s meaningful to you.

So… Why the hospital? And why Toronto General?

It’s a long-ish story, but I’ll be short so I can keep my 3 minute promise.

In January 2012, I came very close to losing my life.

I was rushed into surgery after being admitted into ER that same night, and went through an experience over the following 2 weeks (and really months) that myself, family, and friends may never forget.

I should probably spare the gory details, but when 3 major organs in your body completely shut down, and there’s a team that rushes to your rescue and works for weeks to stabilize and save you…

You build a very real appreciation for what they do inside of hospitals...

So, can I count on you for your support in donating to Toronto General Hospital?

If yes, then make a meaningful donation to the Friendsday Wednesday, Hospital fundraiser right now, before it slips your mind.

It means just about everything right now.

Thank you so much :)

I’ll donate whatever you can give on my Birthday - Wednesday, February 19th!

P.S. I came to a realization this year that using your birthday as an excuse to give back is perfect.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate your birth, than to give gifts to other people, in return for being blessed with the gift of life.

It’s a good cause…

It feels right…

And you’ll be affecting a lot of people that need your help.

Make a meaningful donation for the Toronto General Hospital right now, before it slips your mind.

100% of the funds raised go straight to the hospital.

I donate all the funds raised on February 19th!

P.P.S. People have asked what a “meaningful” donation would be for the Friendsday, Wednesday, Hospital Fundraiser.

To help you come with a meaningful donation amount you can simply take what you think a meaningful donation to YOU would be….

... and then double it!

I so appreciate you doing this! Thank you. You have already made a difference.

P.P.P.S. To keep things tight, I wanted to include information on the donation process and exactly what department the donation is being sent to.

The head surgeon that organized the team that saved yours truly is Dr. Sean P. Cleary. He’s always been amazing and welcoming especially after the surgery.

Him and his team are part of the University Health Network, which includes Toronto General, Toronto Western, and Princess Margaret.

Throughout the duration of my intensive care, and several months of monitoring and followups I was treated in each of these different hospitals.
