The Fluffy Bunch (Formerly: “Hell Colony”) January Fundraiser

This is a fundraiser for a very difficult colony in Agios Athanasios, cemetery in Limassol. The name of this place was Hell Colony for a decade now, until this year. The cats deserve a better name, but those dropped off here are often doomed. Whether by the hand of man or by disease that arrived with an sick, abandoned animal...

This work is overwhelming and it often seems there is no end in sight for abandonings at this colony. The 2-3 people who help here cannot afford to take care of all these cats plus new ones every month without help... We have lost count of how many cats there are there, because other than the 50-60 that show up to eat daily, there are cats that are afraid, and only show up to eat at night.

Hi guys, first of all, Happy New Year! Wishing you a year filled with health, love and joy! I want to say thank you to those who support us, and continue to do so every month. We surely could not have done this without you, since this colony is like a shelter at a cemetery, and people in Cyprus treat it as such. But we are not a shelter, we are just individuals fighting on our own. Winter has arrived, and these babies need our support more than ever. We managed to keep most of them healthy because we buy a good quality of dry food, and we have now placed an order for wet food. We have baught them wooden houses to keep them as warm and dry as possible for the winter, but they still need more food during the winter to keep their temperature up, and their bodies healthy to struggle with the cold. Us the vollunteers pay mostly the medical bills and the fundraiser is used mostly for food, spot ons, deworming pills, antibiotics and if we have extra for TNR. Our goal is to vaccinate as many as possible, but with the speed of sick cats abandoned there its very difficult.The medical bills are high because young kittens are mostly abandoned there and they usually need to spend a week at the vet because they get sick very fast there. Your help will cover food and medical care for these cats.

Spot-ons (the fleas and ticks pass diseases), deworming pastes, medicines, medical care for cats with the flu. We need 300 in reserve for emergency veterinary care - 400 covers only dry food. All vet and medical care was covered by the very few volunteers and everyone is completely spent. Nutrition is important - without proper food the cats cannot fight diseases that are brought here again and again, but medical care for the currently sick ones is also important as they pass it to the rest of the colony!

While you make this a little bit easier, we work towards cleaning out this colony and working with the powers that be to change this situation. We are pushing the municipality to offer at least some dry food and sterilizations. It will take some more time but we are hoping it will happen soon.

We can also accept food, medicines, spot-ons, deflea liquids (sebacyl).
