I don't have much to post on this project because i've only recently decided to take action on this dream. My wife is currently 8 months pregnant. I watched her do a wedding last weekend and she's amazing. Folks were whispering "Wow that photographer is WORKING, she on the floor making sure she gets those shots!" And yes, she was literally sitting...on the pavement in the middle of a street directing the shoot.
Of course, i try to help her out as much as i can, but she's the real artist. We've been doing freelance photography in the South Bend, IN area for about 2yrs now and get asked, through word of mouth to do quite a bit of weddings...however:
We own a Nikon D3100. We rent our flash and lenses and other camera accessories and would love one day to own our own. My wife, even in her stage stays up editing photos when i try to get her to sleep she often says "How can i sleep when all i dream about it taking great pictures and editing them! I have to keep working so one day i can get to do photography full time." (She works as a permanent substitute full time) She'll edit about 100+ photos in 3 days and she doesn't just edit them by throwing filters on them. She looks at the kind of pictures of the Nikon D800 takes (Our new obsession, we'd love to get her hands on one) and she edits our little D3100 to look like those pictures. Not just sharpening in photoshop, but LITERALLY painting in details, adding the right blur, (since our standard lenses do not) light, color correcting, and retouching...its simply amazes me what she does. (Can you tell i'm her #1 fan?)
We talked about how great it would be to start out by owning our own venue which included in the rental fee will come with our photography services (at unbeatable prices) however if the client has their own photographer in mind, they have the option to deny ours.
The next step would be to form contracts and sponsorships to help promote the other amazing wedding companies (lighting, caterers, decorators, ect.) in our area.
HOWEVER. Before disclosing any details of the business plan, my lawyer has advised i post this:

Now that that's out the way!: The grand idea..
To have different styles of venues on the same property!
For the Ceremony
(i) If you like the outdoor weddings, we'd have 3-4 amazing gardens with outdoor lighting, gazebos ect. to choose from.
(ii) If you like the church feel, have 2-3 churches with different architectural designs on the property to use.
(iii) If you like the indoor ballrooms have 4-5 different ballrooms to pick from.
For the Reception
For now the plan is to build only 2 separate reception halls. Simply because the way the ceremony venues will be designed right after the wedding there will be the option to use part of the venue as the reception.
The reason to have only 2 separate venues will be for those who really want to be flashy. My wife and i are all about simple elegance, however we understand that some people like to "go all out". We will offer two venues that give just that.
We know the idea is grand. But if God said you have not because you ask not, maybe it's time we started asking!
