The Dream Career Project

Hello everyone, and thank you for giving me some of your precious time! My name is Suryani Fitri, I'm a bassist from Borneo, Malaysia. I work as a clerk to pay the bills, but music has always been my underlying passion.

Not only that, but it has always been my heart's desire to become a professional bassist.

In 2010, I decided to commit a vast majority of my time into learning how to play bass. Equipped with a beginner setup, a dream, and the dedication to improve, I've developed my skills tremendously since that point in time.

A scant two years later I was given the opportunity of becoming a sessionist for local independent bands as well as being part of a youth orchestra. As my journey progressed, so too did my passion to hone my skills, and spread my joy to others!

Throughout the duration of the following five years, I have been blessed enough to meet some magnificent people, talented musicians, and gain the continued emotional support I needed to pursue my dream.

However.. there is one thing that hasn't changed since the beginning of this perilous journey of mine. My equipment.. despite being over seven years after I initially began, I am still using the same bass guitar since the day I decided to commit to following my passion.

If I had the chance, I would have invested even a portion of my earnings into making my passion a reality, but the meager amount I receive is hardly enough to finance the basic needs of my family, let alone anything extra.

The time I've spent in the industry, coupled with information courteously provided to me through other musicians, I have the talent, but what I desperately need to begin would be a mid-level bass guitar, and some decent recording equipment.

I'm currently chasing my dream alone, much like many other people, but I would be eternally grateful if someone, anyone, could offer me an opportunity, just a chance, to pursue my dream career.

Seeing as this is the case, I've opted to put my faith in this platform, and hope that I can attain some manner of help in getting through this difficult time, as well as instilling within me the courage to trudge onwards!

All the funds collected will go into paying for a new bass and buying recording equipment so I can perform better and produce at the same time.
