The Domestic Violence Recovery Home For Battered Women & Children

My name is Erika Ruiz. I am a teacher, a daycare provider, and a children’s book author. My compassionate nature and consistent advocacy has earned a reputation for me as a trusted community
leader.

I was born and raised in the City of Los Angeles, and currently live in Silver
Lake. As a Family Advocate my mission has been to strengthen family bonds in through the daycare Center I manage, as well as through the power of words. I strive to create books that improve children’s lives, giving them hope, and reminding them that they are never completely alone.

In addition to my passion for helping families, I also hold a bachelor’s
degree in Social Science, in Child and Family Services. I am a Certified Medical Assistant as well as a Radio-frequency and Body Contouring Technician. I boost women’s confidence by helping them
look and feel beautiful inside and out.

As a domestic violence survivor, I have experienced the trauma that comes from being abused. Suffered the long term injury of repeated punishments, emotionally, physically, mentally, and neglected. Repeated violence will cause damage mentally and physically leading to suicide. Therefore, My vision is to create better lives for women and children who have lived through the trauma and abuse of domestic violence. I want to grow this recovery home center in Palmdale/Lancaster, California. For the reason that I am the
owner of a 2-acre flatland which I have set aside for this purpose.

I strongly believe that a domestic violence recovery home for women and children
will not only save lives but will empower these vulnerable women and their
children to uplift themselves and be able to move forward in life. Every human has the right to be happy and safe at all time. Often, women do not leave abusive
relationships because they have no one to lean on for financial and emotional
support. The cycle of abuse lowers self esteem making them feel that there is no
way out. Lack of skills and education will also lead to unemployment due to the
stress and depression one faces threw these horrific stages. My home of recovery will provide the complete program and resources to support them threw the healing process until they are able and ready to do it on their own. This abuse leaves women and children with PTSD that needs to be addressed and treated before they are ready to continue with their lives again.

Diamondstone is the name that I have chosen for the home and the whole

approach to the treatment will be based on holistic trauma healing. Helping them
cope through the process, the women and children will become prepared for
freedom of abuse. With the support and training offered by our professionals, my
goal is to eventually train these women with the ability of becoming business
owners themselves.

The holistic programs that will be included to help in their confidence building
and PTSD treatments are :-

              • Emotional healing programs
              • Spiritual Guidance
              • Building self-esteem
              • Anger management
              • Chiropractor treatments
              • Homeopathic treatments
              • Skills training
              • Childcare

The area has schools where the older children accompanying their mothers will be able to attend making sure that their schooling is not disrupted in any way.

As the author of children’s books, I write about real life challenges that children
face. These include serious issues like parents being incarcerated, death, emotional
neglect, separation anxiety and more. Part of the resources for the project will
come from my book sales with a 50% of profits. It will be invested towards my
recovery home.
My inspiration comes from several organizations that I have admired for their work
over the years. Among many more the Healing Hearts Foundation is devoted to
wellness education, spiritual and emotional alignment as well as personal
empowerment for individuals and youth within the community. Helping Hands
Foundation offers love and support. Making a difference in our community by
loving and caring for our children through community involvement. Youth,
veterans, prisons and domestic violence victims. They provide healing that makes a
difference in the world. Phoenix-Unitee offers violence prevention in kids, youth
and adults. Certified Batterers Intervention Facilitator, Human Trafficking
advocates, mental health, anger management and domestic violence.
My dream for Diamondstone is to build strong women who are able to support and
raise their children; giving them a better future away from violence and crime. I
hope that this brings a clear understanding on why I want to create this recovery
home for women and children. I highly encourage you to take the time and think
about why your funds will be used for the best of society’s future. Not only the
change of the future, but it will save lives of women and children. Love always
wins.

We would like to invite to support our efforts to transform this blighted lot into something helpful and useful for the entire world. We need $55000 for this project and hope to raise more to make this project a reality.

Thank You
