The 5k Colour Obstacle Rush with Team Alec Assemble

The Event

The Colour Obstacle Rush combines the best of colour powdered running and a variety of fun obstacles along the way, including giant inflatable slides, bouncy castles, foam, climbing nets and plenty of surprises along your 5k journey to the finish! the event usually consists of 9 colour stations + 10 obstacles.

The Cause

On the surface, Alec is like any other 5 year old: full of imagination, mischief and adventure. Alec loves Superheroes. They play an active role in his imagination, and they are the perfect metaphor for his life. Alec is fighting a big super villain: Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This degenerative muscle disease challenges him every day, hour and minute. He fights back hard. Some days he succeeds and some days he doesn’t, but he always gives his all in the daily battle to succeed at the simple everyday tasks that come so easily for the rest of us.

The Aim

We are doing this for our Superhero Alec, as well as boys like Alec. Muscular Dystrophy is a life ending disorder, the degenerative status of this disease means Alec and boys like him will not have the Motability skills as time passes so it is our aim to enhance the quality of life for these boys.
