The Clean Water Well Project

We met Kong, a young monk, at his monastery in Siem Reap where he spent an afternoon telling us about the Buddhist faith, his daily life as a monk, and meditating with us.

He volunteers with a local non-profit organization, the Cambodian Buddhism Association for Vulnerable Children (CBAVC), which, among other projects, provides clean, safe drinking water for some of the most disadvantaged communities in their province by building water wells. These wells ensure that the community members don't get sick from contaminated water, allowing them to work and go to school; and save the women and children the time spent walking far distances to collect water, which is often still contaminated. The project is run by locals, for locals, and based on their real needs! CBAVC's goal is to build 100 wells, which will provide 4,500 people with safe drinking water (each well serves ~45 people) by 2018.

Our goal is to raise $320 to fund the construction of one well!

-The cost to build one well is 300 USD + 6.9% commission taken by gogetfunding.com for hosting this project & I will cover the bank transfer fees to CBAVC

If you'd like more information about the organization you can visit their homepage and for more information about their water well project you can click here!

Thank you for considering this cause & for any donation you may be considering to make!

Who am I & why am I fundraising?

Dear Friends, Family, & Lovely Strangers!

My name is Josephine and I've just spent a month in Vietnam & Cambodia with my sister, meeting and living with many locals in the areas we visited. We were touched by many of their stories, their desire for a better life, and the entrepreneurial ideas that they dreamed of achieving for their families and communities. In daily life I work for a human rights organization and have a Master's in Global Health & Disaster Risk Management from the University of Copenhagen, but hope to be able to make a difference in the lives of these individuals and communities from afar as well. I hope that you might find a worthy cause to donate your hard earned money to amongst the few projects I'll be posting!

Thanks for your time!
