The Bintang Timur School in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia wants to expand their study area to offer a fair and efficient education for 130 children. The school’s aim is to reach equal future chances for each family - no matter what background they have. But the existent conditions do not make it possible to reach this aim as the necessary resources are not given and there are still lots of children in Nusa Dua, who cannot get the education they deserve. That is the reason why we would like to gather around 7.000 € for the extension of the school. Who are we? We are volunteers from Germany working in the school and all the money we collect will be used exclusively for the school extension.
The school was founded in 2013. There are five kindergarten groups with children from four to six years old, as well as four primary school classes with children aged six to ten. The kids study in small classrooms where also the eight teacher have to prepare the material for their lessons, as there is no proper staff room. Aside from this the school has no athletic ground, most time no running water and not even close to enough school materials for all the children and instructors. Also with only 600 m2 the school’s area is too small to get an Approval from the Bali Education Minister, which is really important for the children who graduate to continue to the Junior High School. An extension of 370 m2 shall permit a sports area and new rooms for playgroups, the faculty and a library.
