Currently living in an island-state in the middle of Asia (unable to board an aeroplane any time soon), we've decided that there is simply no choice, but to swim home for Christmas. Swimming 10,875km is slightly ambitious so instead we'll swim 10,875m (which is practically the same, give or take a “k”). In a 25m pool, that equates to 435 lengths, and we'll each attempt this over a 48 hour period.
The pandemic has brought so many different challenges to people across the globe for a whole host of reasons. With the borders closed, it has been difficult being unable to see family and loved ones at home and the uncertainty of when this situation might change is challenging. Hopefully this swim will go some way towards letting our families and friends know that we will be thinking of them over the festive period.
Note to those living in the UK: it might be a good idea to put the kettle on just in case we make it!
We will be swimming to raise money for Nottingham’s Mother and Baby Unit.
Jen and Claire.
