A Multifunctional Audio Spectrum Analyzer called The Audiometer, has been developed as a teaching tool for colleges, universities and all other audio disciplines. A totally analog product, it serves beyond a teaching tool as a unique addition to the test bench. The Audiometer is equipped with a multifunction sweep generator, A wide range voltage controlled quadrature oscillator that generates both sine and co-sine waveforms, and a wide range decibel meter.
Designed to test the frequency response of any audio circuit or product, the test results are displayed on large analog panel meters plus may also be displayed on an oscilloscope. A speaker may be connected to hear the frequency responses. An external FM input and a tracking control voltage output are provided and are useful for designing and testing filters, speaker crossovers, Phono and Microphone preamps ect.
This product will find favor with music synthesizer enthusiasts with a gradual growth programs such as Eurorack and other modular synthesizers and of course the DIYguy, and the general audio enthusiast.
This has been two year project and prototypes have been built (a few time) and fully tested. The PC board artwork has been completed and final packaging has been designed. To aid the program with a gradual growth initiative, three encapsulated modules...the voltage controlled oscillator, the decibel meter and the sweep generator will be offered initially as stand alone functions. They can all be used separately or all together. When the final finish product becomes available, it will be battery operated. A future product would include a tracking filter to improve distortion measurements.
