The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre announce that we would like to improve our Vulture enclosures.

The Centre is busy rebuilding all our Vulture enclosures. We want to make more enriching and comfortable for them.

Vultures are extremely important in the ecosystem. People often over look vultures because they are not cute and cuddly like a lot of other animals.

Numbers of vultures are starting to decline word wide! Poaching, poisoning and wing injuries due to flying in to fences or power lines are just a couple of problems these beautiful animals are facing.

At the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre we house 3 different vulture species. The Cape Vulture, Egyptian Vulture and also the Lappet faced Vulture. All three species are endangered.

The Centre provides a safe home for injured and poisoned vultures. We also have a breeding programme with our Egyptian Vultures.

Improving our vulture enclosures will include

Building rock walls for the Vultures which will help for breeding.

Placing new and more perches inside their enclosures. Perches also helps to prevent illnesses such as Bumble Foot.

Buying new Artificial Turf for them. Artificial Turf also helps to protect them from illnesses such as Bumble Foot.

Building a nice big water dam in some of the enclosures.

Chicken mesh to fence their enclosures.

Poles

Shade cloth

This is just a short list of items we will need for the changes we want to make. We want to start off by raising R100 000-00 since the artificial walls will be our biggest expense.

We would appreciate any help for this project as we would love to improve the lives of our Vultures.
